Chatting Across the USA is a video conferencing project in which students in 3rd grade participated in during the spring of 2010. Cherrie MacInnes took her students on a tour of the United States while sitting in their classroom. Students were able to research various facts and information about their state and taught it to other classes around the country. Information they learned was then recorded in a journal. Students learn best by learning from one another. The conferences lasted 20-30 minutes. During this time students were able to ask questions they were interested in, like favorite foods, games, and sports. They were able to make connections across the country.

We hope to continue this project. This wiki makes it easy to connect and share with one another. Teachers should first join this wiki. Once joined, click the "Sign Up Here" link in the navigation bar and complete the sign up form. You will be emailed a list of all of the participants. Next, you can look at the list and start emailing. Connect with different states that sign up to participate. Schedule times that work for both of you. When you are done, create a collection of reflections from your students using Powerpoint, Photostory, Voicethread, or any other digital story software you would like. Share what your students found from this project and embed it here.
